Dear DPS Community,
I am happy to announce that Denver Public Schools (DPS) has made history once again by achieving a preliminary Accredited (Green) rating on the Colorado Department of Education's (CDE) District Performance Framework for the second year in a row! This rating is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to cultivate and sustain learning environments that produce results in academic achievement, growth and post-secondary readiness. And just as it was for the 2024-25 school year, this Green rating is again a direct result of the collective dedication of DPS students, educators, school leaders and support staff.
Listed below are some highlights from the School Performance Framework (SPF) ratings:
Grant Ranch ECE-8 School and John F. Kennedy High School each improved by two plan types, moving from Priority Improvement (Orange) to Performance (Green).
11 schools are fully exiting the accountability clock, including Abraham Lincoln High School and Academy 360.
Four schools shifted to “On Watch” status: John F. Kennedy, Rocky Mountain Prep Noel, Oakland Elementary and Cole Arts and Science Academy.
Four schools received a lower plan type due to participation rates below 95% in both ELA and Math: Denver Online, Doull Elementary, Lake Middle School, Manual Middle School.
Frameworks are summarized as follows:
Performance (Green): 94 schools (57%)
Improvement (Yellow): 47 schools (29%)
Priority Improvement (Orange): 21 schools (13%)
Turnaround (Red): 2 schools (1%)
Insufficient State Data: 1 school (<1%)
While we take great pride in all the growth across our schools, I want to call special attention to Abraham Lincoln High School, which earned an Improvement (Yellow) rating for the second year in a row. Lincoln had been placed on the state’s accountability clock after consecutive years of falling into lower-tier ratings and is now officially off the clock. The progress at Abraham Lincoln High School reflects years of hard work by students, staff and community.
Building on back-to-back Green ratings, DPS will leverage Lincoln’s success as a blueprint for districtwide school revitalization. And moving forward, we remain focused on closing achievement gaps and preparing every student for college and career.
