DENVER - Denver Public Schools (DPS) has achieved a preliminary Accredited (Green) rating on the Colorado Department of Education's District Performance Framework (DPF), marking a significant milestone in the district's ongoing efforts to enhance educational outcomes.
With a total of 57.6% of points earned, marking a positive improvement from last year’s Accredited with Improvement Plan (Yellow) rating at 53.4%, DPS is making history in reaching the green status as a district. This is the second time DPS as an entire district has achieved the coveted Accredited (Green) status, with the previous occurrence pre-pandemic in 2019. Other highlights from the school-level ratings on CDE’s School Performance Framework (SPF) include:
18 schools improved by at least one plan type.
118 schools maintained their current plan type.
26 schools experienced a decline of at least one plan type.
3 schools received a lower plan type due to participation rates below 95%.
Performance (Green): 98 schools (60%)
Improvement (Yellow): 43 schools (26%)
Priority Improvement (Orange): 17 schools (10%)
Turnaround (Red): 6 schools (4%)
“This year’s results are a strong reflection of the hard work, resilience, and dedication shown by our students, educators, school leaders, and support staff across the district,” said DPS Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero. “Earning an Accredited (Green) rating is a significant milestone for DPS, and we’re proud of the collective progress our community has made. While this achievement is worth celebrating, it’s just the beginning. We know there’s more work ahead.
Our commitment remains steadfast: to ensure every student, in every school, has the support and opportunities they need to thrive.”
CDE’s DPF evaluates districts based on various performance indicators, including academic achievement, growth, and postsecondary readiness. The Accredited (Green) rating signifies that DPS meets state expectations in these areas. It also reflects the collective dedication of DPS students, educators, school leaders, and support staff. This achievement underscores the district's commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering an environment where every student can thrive.
