Dear North High School Families,
As we launch into the 2026–2027 school year, we are committed to prioritizing the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors. To ensure that our emergency access points remain clear and traffic flows smoothly, North High School will strictly enforce all campus parking regulations this school year. We ask for your full support in following these policies.
Current Enforcement Status We are currently working on issuing warnings this week to ensure everyone has an opportunity to bring their vehicles into compliance. To date, we have issued over 330 warnings to cars parked on campus. Please review the policies below to ensure your vehicle is properly registered and parked.
Student Parking & Driver Requirements Please review the following critical driver policies with your student:
Learner's Permits vs. Driver’s Licenses: A Learner's Permit allows a student to drive only under the direct supervision of a licensed adult (age 21 or older) seated in the front passenger seat. It does not grant independent driving privileges, and students holding only a learner's permit are strictly prohibited from registering a vehicle or parking on campus. A Driver’s License grants legal authorization for independent vehicle operation.
Student Parking Registration & Eligibility: To register for and receive approval to park a vehicle in any North High School campus lot, a student must possess a valid Driver’s License. Learner's permits will not be accepted for parking registration under any circumstances.
Campus Parking Compliance: Any unregistered student vehicle, or student vehicle parked without authorization/parking permit will be towed immediately at the owner's expense.
Athlete Pick-Up & Drop-Off: If you are picking up or dropping off a student-athlete, please arrange to have your student meet you in the Main Lot. Parents and drivers must abide by all parking rules and park only in designated standard parking spaces—do not park or idle in red or yellow zones, as vehicles in those areas are subject to an immediate tow.
Mandatory State Insurance & Legal Compliance Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S. § 42-4-1409), every motor vehicle operated on public highways and school district property must be covered by a complying automobile insurance policy meeting Colorado minimum liability limits ($25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 bodily injury per accident, and $15,000 property damage). Driving or parking an uninsured vehicle on campus grounds is illegal and subject to immediate law enforcement action and removal of the vehicle.
Handicap Parking Regulations & Legal Usage Accessible parking spaces on school grounds are governed strictly by state and federal law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and C.R.S. § 42-4-1208:
Authorization: Handicap parking spaces (marked with the International Symbol of Access) are restricted exclusively to vehicles actively transporting the individual to whom the state-issued placard or disability license plate was issued.
Prohibited Use: It is a violation of state law for family members, students, or non-disabled drivers to use a handicap space or placard without the authorized individual present in the vehicle.
Crosshatched Access Areas: Parking or standing in the striped/crosshatched space adjacent to handicap spots is strictly illegal at all times, as these areas are necessary for wheelchair lifts and mobility devices. Unauthorized vehicles in these zones face immediate towing and severe traffic infractions under state law.
Parking Permit Guidelines All vehicles parked in North High School lots must be registered with the school and display a valid 2026–2027 staff parking permit at all times.

Returning Previous Passes: If you still hold a parking pass from a previous year, please turn it in, complete the form, and a new 2026–2027 pass will be issued.
Permit Visibility: Your permit must be clearly visible from the front windshield at all times while parked on campus.
No Parking Zones (Red & Yellow Curbs): Parking along curbs painted RED or YELLOW is strictly prohibited—these areas serve as designated fire lanes and emergency loading zones. Do not create or utilize a red or yellow painted area as a temporary parking or idling spot under any circumstances.
2-Hour Parking: Designated 2-hour spots are strictly for short visits. Exceeding the time limit will result in your vehicle being towed.
Towing Enforcement: Any unregistered vehicle, untagged vehicle, vehicle without a visible permit, student vehicle, or vehicle parked in a No Parking Zone will be towed at the owner's expense across all school lots (Main Lot & West Lot).
First-Come, First-Served: Staff parking in both the Main and West lots is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Campus Speed Limits & Safety: All motorists must adhere to the posted campus speed limit of 5–10 MPH and exercise maximum caution around pedestrian areas.
