Centering Community in Denver Public Schools

Superintendent Marrero’s Transition Process

Planning for the future of Denver Public Schools will be done with the guidance and input of our community. This work started with the Superintendent’s Listening and Learning Tour, where Superintendent Alex Marrero asked students, staff, the Board of Education and community to answer three key questions:

  1. What is going well in DPS?

  2. What improvements are needed?

  3. What advice do you have for Dr. Marrero?

With the answers to these questions from across the community to ground the work moving forward, the Superintendent will collaborate directly with community members and members of team DPS to plan for the future of DPS. The second phase of the transition begins with the Superintendent’s Transition Advisory Team, which is a diverse group of community members and DPS staff who are charged with creating recommendations that guide the development of our next multi-year strategic plan.

The recommendations from the Transition Team will build the foundation for the next phase of work, the Superintendent’s New Strategic Plan Advisory Team, which will directly support the development of a new multi-year strategic plan.
