Dear Ashley Families,
We are writing to share an update about Ashley Elementary and how the school will be supported moving forward.
Effective now, Ashley Elementary is transitioning from management by the Luminary Learning Network to direct oversight by Denver Public Schools. We are excited to welcome Ashley into a district network of schools and to provide additional support and connection as we work together to serve students and families.
Ashley will continue to be led by Principal Janet Estrada. Janet will be supported through district resources, including operations, instructional support, and family engagement. Our goal is to strengthen the systems around the school while maintaining stability and continuity for students and staff.
During this transition, Principal Estrada will report to Michelle Wright, Executive Director of Elementary Schools, and Joe Amundsen, Executive Director of School Transformation. Michelle will support Janet with school supervision for the remainder of this school year. Joe and his team will also be engaging with staff and families to ensure strong support is in place as we plan for next year.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to Bailey Holyfield and Frank Coyne from the Luminary Learning Network for their leadership of Ashley Elementary over the past several years and for their thoughtful partnership during this transition.
As part of this change, the Luminary Learning Network will continue to support the development of the assistant principal, Mr. Gonzalo Maldonado, who is preparing to become a principal. As a result, Assistant Principal Maldonado will be supported through another school in the Luminary Learning Network for the remainder of the school year and will transition his responsibilities to Principal Estrada.
We are committed to a smooth transition that keeps students learning, supports staff, and forward together in support of Ashley Elementary.
