Challenge 5280 Civic Engagement Project Proposal
4 to 7 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 26, 2016
McNichols Civic Center Building
144 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202

In its fourth year, Challenge 5280 (formerly Aspen Challenge Denver) is a DPS initiative that provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate creativity, teamwork and ingenuity as they strengthen their leadership skills. Students will propose and create solutions to real-world social issues. For example, projects last year focused on water conservation, behavioral health, race, restorative justice, substance prevention and building healthy relationships with the Denver Police Department.

At this Challenge 5280 kick-off event, DPS and community leaders will engage with student board members and learn about the projects they will lead this school year. DPS educators will also have the opportunity to lend their leadership and expertise by meeting with the Challenge 5280 teams, providing feedback on their project proposals and engaging in face-to-face, real-time conversations with these student leaders. Attendees will also have an opportunity to:

  • Meet with student board teams
  • Interact and engage with teams in a speed-date activity
  • Provide feedback on project proposals
