Signing day is an important day in any student-athlete’s life. It’s the day when students commit to the college of their choice and take their athletic talents to the next level. While National Signing Day occurs in early February, sometimes a student-athlete is so talented that the day comes early. This is the case for Collegiate Prep Academy’s student body president, Jaylen Byrd — and that special day is today.
Today at 6:30 p.m., Jaylen will sign his National Letter of Intent to the University of Northern Colorado for football during a special virtual ceremony. Jaylen will receive a full-ride scholarship to play for UNC.
“Jaylen is an outstanding young man who has not only excelled athletically but understands the important role academics plays in the student-athlete experience. All of my interactions with him have been positive and I am not surprised that he has put himself in a position to compete at the highest level. If he continues to stay committed in the key areas of his life, he has the ability to have success at the next level and beyond. The entire Far Northeast Warrior Family is very proud of him and congratulates Jaylen and his Family on his decision and this accomplishment. He has a very bright future ahead of him,” said Paul Jefferson, Athletic Director of the Far Northeast Warriors Regional Athletics Program
As for Jaylen, it’s all part of the plan. “This whole signing day thing is feeling unreal, I used to dream of this day when I was younger,” he said. “My family and the hard work I’ve put in have allowed me to reach this point in my life but I can’t forget my god-given talents I have been blessed with that have also helped me in reaching this point. I’m excited to start a new chapter of my life and continue on achieving my goal of playing in the NFL. The Marathon Continues!”
Congratulations to Jaylen and his family!
