DPS believes that all students should have the same access to quality schools, regardless of their background or where they live in Denver. Every DPS student is guaranteed enrollment in their neighborhood school. However, any student who wants to attend a school other than their neighborhood school can take part in SchoolChoice.
You can access the new online application here using cellphone, tablet or computer.
SchoolChoice allows you to apply to any school in DPS; simply rank up to five school preferences for next year and submit the application by 4 p.m., Feb. 28. There’s no advantage to applying early – just submit your application by the deadline!
Once you’ve submitted the application and the SchoolChoice window closes, we will spend a few weeks running a computer tool at an offsite location that matches your student to a school based on your school preferences, as well as school admission priorities and available space. We will then send out placement notifications by early April. Click here to learn more about admission priorities.
There also are resources for families who are still researching their school options, including the annual Great Schools Enrollment Guides, and the new, online, mobile-friendly School Finder. Both are available at schoolchoice.dps.org. The best way for families to find their best-fit school is to visit schools in person and talk to leaders and staff.
