Recognizing the Passing of President George Herbert Walker Bush

Dec. 3, 2018

Denver Public Schools recognizes the passing of President George Herbert Walker Bush by participating in the national day of mourning and flags flying at half-staff at our facilities Dec. 5.

“President George H. W. Bush had a lasting impact in working to unite our country domestically, and as a key advocate of academic and intellectual freedoms. He signed the Americans with Disabilities Act that today forms the basis for the rights of many of our students and families. President Bush also promoted the idea that our world is a better place when we all serve as a ‘thousand points of light.’ Community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the nation have the power to do tremendous good.” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Ron Cabrera.
