Dear DPS Community,
This week, I want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the tremendous spirit of togetherness, understanding, and perseverance of our DPS families that has helped us and strengthened us throughout every day of the past year.
In the days and months since school — and life — as we know it suddenly changed, our students, parents, and family members have had to adapt and push through, time and time again. It has been uplifting to see how everyone has come together through one of the most difficult times in all of our lives. And it’s a testament to how much our community values education and our children.
All of us in DPS want to know how you and your student are doing, and what additional support would be the most helpful and meaningful to you and your family. That’s why we hope you’ll take a moment (if you haven’t already) to respond to our latest community survey, which closes tomorrow–Friday, March 26. Your feedback on this survey will not only provide important input to help us better support you and your family this spring and in the upcoming school year, it will also shape our superintendent search and help us find a great new leader for our schools. Thank you for taking the time to share your perspectives with us.
We still are looking forward to bringing back more middle and high school students for in-person learning in the weeks following spring break. And we’re growing more and more optimistic for next school year, when we hope that we’ll be able to return to a normal school experience for our students, with health precautions always front-of-mind. I look forward to continuing those conversations with you next month.
For now, I hope you and your family have a wonderful spring break next week. We appreciate all that you are doing, and we are thankful for the opportunity to continue to educate and support your students.
Sincerely,
Dwight Jones
Interim Superintendent
