Dear DPS Community,
Today we’d like to share some important updates and reminders with you:
Take Our Latest Survey by March 26
This survey includes some of the most important questions we’ve asked our students, families, staff, and community this year. Who we choose for our next superintendent has a big impact on every student, every educator, and every school. If you are interested in what your student’s learning experience is like in school, how the district prioritizes its budget, and what the culture of the district will be going forward, you definitely want to take this survey!
The survey is also focused on planning for what families need next school year — like whether you’ll continue to need a fully remote school option, and what supports and opportunities are most important for your student. Parents, guardians and community members can access the survey in nine languages here.
Save the Date: Superintendent Search Regional Community Gatherings
Please mark your calendar for upcoming opportunities to participate in regional conversations with Denver Board of Education members about the superintendent search. All gatherings will be held virtually, and we’ll be sharing more details in the coming weeks. We’ll use the feedback we hear at these meetings to inform our search, recruitment and interview process. Want to learn more about the superintendent search? Join Board President Dr. Carrie Olson and Alma Advisory Group CEO Monica Santana Rosen for a Facebook Live discussion today at 4 p.m.!

Update on 2021-22 School Year Calendar
The board discussed district calendar options at its meeting last week. On March 18, the board will hear public comment about the calendar, and will vote to approve an option. Please sign up if you would like to speak at public comment. Following the board’s approval, on March 19 we will post the calendar on dpsk12.org in English, and will share the calendar in nine languages as soon as possible in the following week. Thank you for your patience as we work through the challenges of planning during this uncertain time.
ICYMI: Snow Day Updates for 2020-21
As we shared Wednesday, DPS leadership has created an outline for how we will handle severe-weather days for the rest of the 2020-21 school year. In case you missed it, be sure to review those updates here. (Families with students who attend charter schools should please check with their school on whether they are following these changes.)
As this weekend’s storm approaches, we are continuing to watch the forecast and will share updates about potential snow days next week as more information is available. In the meantime, please remind your students to bring home their computers and any other work they may need for a potential remote-learning day.
