Dear DPS Community,

Before Thanksgiving break, I spent an evening talking with the dozen or so high school students who make up my Student Cabinet. These scholars and I have been working together to identify and address issues in the district. Over our first three meetings, they have shown incredible dedication to advocating for students’ needs, rights and aspirations. They consistently remind me of the importance of elevating student voice — and of listening to and respecting our students’ perspectives as we approach challenging decisions. They push us to do better, to make progress, and to live our values. And I’m deeply thankful for their ongoing partnership.

En colaboración con nuestros estudiantes líderes

Estimada comunidad de DPS:

Antes de las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias, pasé una tarde platicando con alrededor de una docena de alumnos de preparatoria que conforman mi gabinete estudiantil. Estos estudiantes y yo hemos colaborado para identificar y abordar las cuestiones del Distrito. Durante nuestras tres primeras reuniones, han mostrado una increíble dedicación a la hora de abogar por las necesidades, los derechos y las aspiraciones de los estudiantes. Me refrescan continuamente la memoria sobre la importancia de incrementar la opinión de los estudiantes y de escuchar y respetar los puntos de vista de nuestros alumnos cuando abordamos decisiones difíciles. Nos llevan a dar lo mejor de nosotros mismos, a progresar y vivir nuestros valores. Estoy sumamente agradecido por su continua asociación.
