Automotive Technology

Grade Levels: 10-12th
This course is a performance-based course. Students work at their own pace to achieve competence in the performance objective. Upon completion, students may obtain and be successful at an entry-level job related to automotive technology. The classroom environment simulates a live automotive shop. Students work on real customers’ vehicles to learn the techniques and procedures needed to repair today’s vehicles. Safety, work ethics, teamwork and related academic skills are taught.
Specific Success Criteria
Students will be enrolled in the college credit for this course, which allows them to qualify for both the college certifications, but also the industry certification.
Students should be comfortable working in teams on complex multi step tasks.
Students should be willing to work with their hands.
Students will be required to sit for and pass at least one ASE certification test.

Industry Certification: ASE Entry Level Cert (total of five ASE tests: Brakes, Engines, Electrical, Suspension and Steering and MLR)
Capstone completion: Capstone can be achieved in 4 semesters and passing 3 industry certifications.
