Denver Public Schools (“DPS”) recognizes the importance of protecting the personal information we maintain. This notice is to inform individuals of a cybersecurity incident that DPS recently addressed.
On January 4, 2023, we discovered that certain data was taken from its network by an unauthorized actor. We alerted law enforcement and conducted a thorough investigation, which determined that between December 13, 2022 and January 13, 2023, an unauthorized actor accessed and/or took certain files stored on our computer servers. Our review of these files identified the following: names and Social Security numbers of current and former participants in DPS’s employer-sponsored health plan; employee fingerprints, if on file; bank account numbers or pay card numbers; student identification numbers; driver’s license numbers; passport numbers; and limited health plan enrollment information maintained for human resources purposes.
We are mailing letters to affected individuals and offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to affected individuals. If you believe you are affected by this incident and do not receive a letter by April 3, 2023, please call 855-951-4287, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Mountain Time.
To help prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future, we have implemented additional measures to enhance the security of our network and continue to provide data security training to our employees.
