Northfield High School was featured in a video by United Healthcare that showcased how the Stapleton community joined together to promote healthy living in Far Northeast Denver. During a special event, United Healthcare offered fitness activities to attendees, as well as ongoing support for a local food pantry that is estimated to contribute around $20,000 worth of donations and resources.
United Healthcare also teamed up with CBS EcoMedia and The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation to create the Team8 Tour, which traveled to Denver to make connections with the local community. United Healthcare volunteers, Northfield HS students and community members joined forces to build a new food pantry for families in need, pack healthy take-home meals, supply a home economics classroom with equipment and lead fitness activities for students and their families.
With more than 60% of the students at Northfield HS eligible for free and reduced lunch, the Team8 Tour recognized the school’s unique mission to bring the prestigious and rigorous International Baccalaureate® (IB) to all who desire to pursue it.
