As superintendent of DPS, Susana Cordova is re-focusing our effort where it matters most: on creating classrooms that are vibrant centers of learning, where caring teachers engage their students in rigorous, culturally responsive experiences so that all children excel. But reaching the ambitious goals set out in her Entry Plan will take more than just a strong leader — it will take all of us launching into action around the three streamlined areas of focus outlined in Susana’s entry plan: Equity, Instructional Excellence and Collaborative Teamwork.
Over the past several months, Susana has already made great strides. From ratifying an agreement with the DCTA that prioritized both teacher pay increases and incentives to recruit and retain teachers to high-poverty schools to providing free Kaplan P/SAT prep to hundreds of high school students, the work of ensuring every student succeeds by design has already begun.
Follow along with the progress of Susana’s Launch Tour, read stories and watch videos from school staff, students and community members, and join the conversation — both in-person and online — at superintendent.dpsk12.org.
