Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts — How to Help

Our thoughts are with our colleagues in the Houston Independent School District and all those affected by Hurricane Harvey. If you would like to help in hurricane relief efforts, donations can be sent to any of the following organizations:

  • American Red Cross
    Make a donation online, call 1- 800-RED CROSS or text the word HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
  • The Salvation Army
    Make a donation online, or call 1-800-725-2769.
  • Catholic Charities USA
    Visit the organization’s website to donate online.
  • GlobalGiving
    Make a donation online, or donors can also text HARVEY to 80100 to donate $10 to GlobalGiving’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. Message and data rates may apply. Please be aware of the terms and conditions before electing to give a donation to GlobalGiving. Donors can also send a check by writing,”Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund” in the memo line and mailing it to GlobalGiving, 1110 Vermont Ave NW, Suite 550, Washington DC, 20005.
  • Save the Children
    Save the Children’s emergency response team is also on the ground in San Antonio, Texas, working to meet children and families’ immediate needs. Donors can make a donation online to support these efforts.
  • Apple
    Visit the Apple website to donate to the American Red Cross on the iTunes Store.
  • Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
    Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner established this fund administered by the Greater Houston Community Foundation to accept tax-deductible flood-relief donations. Checks and money orders can be mailed to the Greater Houston Community Foundation, while online credit card donations can be made on their website. Online credit card donations will be assessed a small fee by the credit card companies. Donors have the option of increasing their credit card donations to cover this fee. Wire-transferred cash will also be accepted.
  • The Houston Independent School District (HISD) has an immediate need for children’s clothes and school uniforms of all sizes that are clean and in reasonably good condition, and a need for school supplies. All clothing and supply donations should be immediately sent to:

  • FOX31/Channel 2
    Donation items can be dropped off at the corner of East Fifth Avenue and Sherman Street from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6. More info here.
