“Femme in STEM” aims to expose girls ages 9-13 to STEM fields via a daylong event hosted by University of Denver alumna and current students.

The event, held May 13 at the University of Denver (1901 E Asbury Ave,), features in-depth exploratory activities from all major STEM fields throughout the morning and a science fair in the afternoon where participants share with each other what they learned in their morning activities.

“Femme in STEM” aims to:

  1. Increase exposure to a variety of STEM fields to young girls, and
  2. Increase self-efficacy in STEM abilities in these young girls.

“Femme in STEM” has grown from 50 attendees from three different schools in Nov. 2015 to 60 attendees from six different schools in April 2016. Registration for this year’s event is filling fast, with attendees signing up from over 15 schools in the area.

This is an exciting new initiative that is growing fast, and we want to invite DPS science students to be part of it. Girls can register for the event online.
