Educators Honored at Excellence in Teaching Event

Oct. 26, 2016

More than 1,000 Denver Public Schools top educators were celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at the annual Excellence in Teaching event held at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Teachers and Special Service Providers (SSP) from 155 DPS schools were recognized for their extraordinary contributions to ensuring Every Child Succeeds.

The Thomas Jefferson High School saxophone and string ensembles provided the entertainment for the evening, while honorees and their guests visited with other colleagues from across the district.

“Thank you for bringing fun and joy to our kids and to DPS classrooms,” expressed Superintendent Tom Boasberg in his remarks to the honorees.

Each year, students, families and the community depend on DPS to have excellent teachers in classrooms and providers in schools who are building joyful, rigorous and personalized learning environments – which in turn builds great schools. DPS continuously strives to have more teachers and SSPs who are Distinguished to help achieve the DPS vision and meet Denver Plan 2020 goals.
