EDUCA: Youth Suicide and Suicide Prevention

Tune in to EDUCA Radio from 3-4 p.m. this Friday, April 6 and listen to Joanna Barker, Lead for the Department of Social Work and Psychological Services in DPS. Barker will share resources available to the community to help prevent suicide.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people and it can affect anyone. Suicide is often a result of mental health conditions that affect people when they are most vulnerable. Suicidal thoughts should not be considered common and can indicate more serious issues. It is important to know that mental health conditions that contribute to suicidal ideation are treatable.
