Event Date: December 16, 2016
Join EDUCA Radio on 1090-AM from 5 to 6 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 for a special English broadcast. EDUCA Radio will speak with Marissa Volpe, diversity and inclusion coordinator at the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, to learn more about the Alzheimer’s disease and resources for families and community members.
Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, which is defined as a loss of cognitive functioning and behavioral abilities that interferes with daily life. It is a progressive brain disease that causes problems with memory, reasoning, behavior and motor skills. The symptoms of Alzheimer’s slowly worsen over time, and the disease is ultimately fatal. Risk of Alzheimer’s increases greatly with age. After age 65, the risk of developing Alzheimer’s doubles roughly every five years, reaching almost 50 percent by age 85.
