EDUCA Radio: Closing the Vocabulary Gap

Nov. 4, 2017
EDUCA Radio: Each One Teach One Helps Close the Vocabulary Gap

Did you know there is a vocabulary gap of 30 million words in the amount of oral language some children hear by the age of three? This gap predicts which children will struggle to read at grade level by third grade. The Each One Teach One program found a way to bring people into Denver schools to provide students from preschool through third grade a more enriched oral language experience by using engaging picture books and joyful conversations about books and the world.

Tune in to EDUCA Radio from 3-4 p.m. this Friday, November 10 to listen to representatives from the Each One Teach One and hear how this program is helping close the vocabulary gap.  Mrs. Marie L. Greenwood, the first African American teacher to earn tenure in Denver Public Schools, will be participating in the interview.

Listen to the interview online by clicking here or tune in to EDUCA Radio 1090 AM at 3 p.m. this Friday. Participants could win the #DiscoverMiTierra Passport that includes one free family visit, of up to five family members, to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Zoo, Butterfly Pavilion, Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver Art Museum, History Colorado Center and Museo de las Americas.
