EDUCA: New Radio Show Supports Refugee Families

“New American Neighbors,” a radio show for refugee and immigrant families, recently made its online debut in seven languages and is now airing each week.

Tune in to EDUCA Radio from 3-4 p.m. this Friday, February 16 and listen to Paul Stein, Executive Director at the Colorado African Organization, who will talk to us about all the great work the refugee community is doing throughout the city including a new online radio program.

Denver Public Schools (DPS) has partnered with the Colorado African Organization to expand parent outreach over the airwaves. “New American Neighbors,” a radio show for refugee and immigrant families, recently made its online debut in seven languages and is now airing each week. The radio show will cover topics such as navigating the educational system, job placement, skill building and mental health.

New American Neighbors will air in Arabic (Sudanese), Arabic (Syrian), French, Karen, Kunama, Nepali and Somali. The talk shows will air weekly on www.educaradio.org and add to the existing English, Spanish and Vietnamese shows.
