Event Date: August 31, 2018
Tune in to EDUCA Radio from 3-4 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 31 and listen to Dr. Sharon Bailey, DPS program manager, and Superintendent Tom Boasberg discuss the work of the African-American Equity Task Force and their focus for equity across the district.
In the fall of 2016, The African-American Equity Task Force (AAETF) was created and asked to develop a set of prioritized recommendations to help close the Opportunity Gap for our African-American students and educators. Led by Allen Smith, chief of the district’s Culture, Equity and Leadership Team, the task force was made up of more than 100 parents, educators and community leaders who received guidance from an executive council made up of leaders in Denver’s African-American community. Since the adoption of the recommendations by the Board of Education in June of 2017, five implementation teams have been working to driving results toward each of the recommendations. As we enter a new school year, we take a look at the successes, challenges and next steps for the AAETF as they continue their work to improve experiences for our African-American students, families and staff.
Listen to this interview online or tune in to EDUCA Radio 1090 AM at 3 p.m. this Friday. Participants may win four tickets to the Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants game.
