Denver Public Schools (DPS) kicked off New Educator Welcome Week on July 31 with an event at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts featuring presentations from Superintendent Tom Boasberg and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. Nearly 1,000 newly hired educators participated in training workshops and other opportunities, providing a warm welcome to the state’s largest school district.
New teachers and specialized-service providers — such as nurses, school counselors and social workers — attend New Educator Welcome Week to learn about key DPS priorities, the Denver Plan 2020 and how the school district works in partnership with the City of Denver. All newly hired DPS teachers attended a culturally responsive education course to support the DPS vision that Every Child Succeeds.
