Grant Dedicated to Supporting Students Who Have Experienced Trauma
Denver – On Thursday, Denver Public Schools (DPS) will announce a $1 million philanthropic investment to support its goal to become a trauma-informed district. DPS will also announce the reduction in out-of-school suspensions for kids in preschool through third grade, due to a resolution the Board of Education passed to dramatically reduce suspensions and eliminate expulsions for our youngest students.
The grant to the DPS Foundation, awarded by The Campbell Foundation, a donor-advised fund of The Denver Foundation, will be used to implement a comprehensive strategy designed to improve academic and social-emotional outcomes for DPS students.
Hear from Board of Education member Jennifer Bacon, DPS Superintendent Tom Boasberg, Jim Campbell and DPS educators who work with students who have experienced trauma.
Interview opportunities available.
