DPS Reaches Contract Agreements with Multiple Unions

Jul. 28, 2022

Minimum wage will increase to $20 per hour

DENVER – Denver Public Schools (DPS) has reached financial agreements with several employee organizations. Beginning August 1, 2022, the minimum wage for paraprofessionals will increase to $20 per hour. The minimum wage for all workers will increase to $20 per hour by the 2024-2025 school year.

“Each of these agreements shows our commitment to our employees while allowing the district to stay within our budget,” said DPS Chief of Talent, Edwin Hudson. “It also immediately raises the minimum wage for our paraprofessionals, which is something that we have been committed to. We are so thankful for everyone involved in this work to ensure that our students receive the education that they deserve from people who are passionate about educating our students.”

Separate 3-year agreements have been reached with the Amalgamated Transit Union (bus drivers and mechanics), Colorado Federation of School Safety Professionals (DPS patrol officers), Communications Workers of America (custodial staff), and the Denver Federation for Paraprofessionals & Nutrition Service Employees (paraprofessionals and food service employees).

DPS continues to work on agreements with other labor organizations.

DPS will be hosting a career fair for these and other positions on Thursday, Aug. 18. More information will be announced in the near future.
