The City and County of Denver, Denver Public Schools (DPS) and the Colorado health program Weigh and Win have expanded their partnership to bring a Weigh and Win kiosk beginning Jan. 11, 2017, to the Montbello Recreation Center located at 15555 E. 53rd Ave., Denver 80239.
DPS has partnered with Weigh and Win since April 2013 to encourage employee and family wellness. In a continued effort to stress the importance of including healthy eating and active living as part of a daily lifestyle, the partnership intends to set a positive example for all DPS parents, students, educators and community members.
To celebrate the expansion, Weigh and Win will host a Walk with a Health Coach at both 4 and 5 p.m. where they will discuss strategies for achieving New Year’s resolutions. A Weigh and Win team member will also be available to answer questions and provide information on the program. All activities are free for the public.
“I’m thrilled about this community resource and partnership between the City and County of Denver, Denver Public Schools and Weigh and Win. This kiosk will give our community incredible new resources to improve and maintain a healthy lifestyle,” said Councilwoman Stacie Gilmore.
Weigh and Win is a free, measurable weight improvement program that pays Colorado adults (ages 18 and older) to achieve a healthy weight. Each participant receives personalized health coaching by email and/or text message, including a daily meal plan, fitness plan, motivational tips and a weekly grocery list. Unlimited access to Weigh and Win health coaches is also provided via phone or email as a part of the program. Cash incentives are distributed to those who begin the program with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or greater. Weigh and Win is supported by Kaiser Permanente, incentaHEALTH and additional community partners, in an effort to encourage healthy eating and active living throughout Colorado.
