Every day, Denver Public Schools (DPS) Food and Nutrition Services serves nearly 90,000 school meals to students and educators, with the goal of providing healthy, tasty and nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch. Menus are now available online in 10 languages — Amharic, Arabic, Burmese, English, French, Nepali, Russian, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese — on foodservices.dpsk12.org.
Breakfast is free for all students in DPS, and is one of the best ways for scholars to start their school days. Lunch is equally important for academic success, and the Food and Nutrition team works hard to serve school meals that students will not only like, but that they will eat.
This year the same hot entrees are served at every school, regardless of grade, to make it easy for parents and students to plan according to the daily menu. There are also more hot and cold entrée choices for students in middle and high school, and every school meal includes a vegetarian option regardless of grade.
Visit foodservices.dpsk12.org for menus and surveys. Food and Nutrition Services also encourages students, families and community members to share a favorite family recipe via email to foodservices@dpsk12.org. These may be tested in DPS kitchens to expand the cultural tastes for all students.
