On Monday, Oct. 3, Allen Smith, the new Denver Public Schools (DPS) associate chief of the Culture, Equity and Leadership Team (CELT) responded to the concerns raised by the qualitative research study performed by Sharon Bailey, Ed.D., a scholar, community leader and former DPS Board of Education member. Dr. Bailey examined student and educator experiences received through the voices of African-American teachers and administrators.

Smith announced a plan that will mitigate the negative findings and leverage the positive factors within the study in order to close the opportunity gap for DPS students and educators.
