This morning, Denver Public Schools welcomed our 90,000 scholars back to more than 200 schools across the City of Denver. This is the first school year since the pandemic started that we are able to welcome our scholars to in-person learning without a mask requirement.
To start things off, we hosted a 2022-23 School Year Kickoff Event at Ellis Elementary. Principal Jamie Roybal was joined by DPS Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero, DPS Board of Education Vice President Tay Anderson and Director Dr. Carrie Olson, as well as Denver Mayor Michael Hancock to greet students and welcome them all back.
Following the brief ceremony, Dr. Marrero embarked on a tour of schools, visiting eight additional schools on Monday and 10 schools on Tuesday to spend time with our students and staff.
