DPS Dominates the State Spelling Bee!

28 spellers from all over Colorado made the state finals by missing less than 7 words on the state written test.  13 of the finalists were Denver Public School students. DPS had 8 of the top 10 spellers and 4 of the top 5 spellers.  Congratulations to all of our DPS finalists! There are co-champions at City Orals this year.  When we ran out of words, Finn Hilty and Marie Ciobanu, both 7th graders at Denver School of the Arts, were still standing.  Third place went to Zach Long, a 6th grader from Slavens School. In fourth place is Jake Faulk, an 8th grader from Slavens. Rounding out the top five is Angelina Holm, a 6th grader from Denver School of the Arts. Angelina Holm and Jake Faulk will both participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
