DPS Community,
As we continue to navigate this large snowstorm (fourth-largest in Denver history) and wintry weather, we are planning for a typical in-person day Wednesday, March 17, and DPS schools and buildings will reopen.
Please be aware that there will be residual snow and ice on campus. Students, staff and families should take extra caution with the slick conditions as well as snow piles that will be on site. With any storm of this magnitude, it is expected to take several days for complete clean-up. Our Facilities Team members are working hard to ensure our sites are clear of snow and ice. Parking lots and sidewalks are the main priority. Play areas, playgrounds, and fields will not be complete, but we are working as quickly as possible to clear these areas.
Our Facility Management and Operations crews spread ice-melt on parking lots, sidewalks and entryways. Please note that, no matter how well our teams remove snow and ice from our grounds, pedestrians will still encounter some slippery surfaces when walking outdoors.
Walking in the areas around our schools right now requires special attention to avoid slipping and falling. Watch out for ice, especially slippery streets and walkways. For the next couple of days, please remember to exercise caution when walking in these snowy and icy areas.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
