Educators Concerned about Impact on Students of Southwest Border Actions
Denver – Dozens of Denver Public Schools (DPS) educators will join together to speak out in support of immigrant families, concerned by federal actions on the Southwest Border. Educators report that students are being traumatized by a fear that they will be taken from the safety and comfort of their parents after seeing images and hearing stories about family separation. School leaders plan to stand in unity with their peers in support of keeping families together. School principals from across DPS will be joined by Denver Board of Education members.
A poster will be available for all guests to sign, proclaiming that “all students and families are safe in Denver Public Schools.”
Interviews in English and Spanish will be available.
Educators reaffirm commitment that schools are safe and welcoming spaces where all students are able to focus on their education
