Critical Conversations on History and Culture

Event Date: February 17, 2018

On Feb. 17, commemorate Black History Month and National African-American Parent Involvement Day with Critical Conversations on History and Culture at the Hiawatha Davis Recreation Center, 3334 Holly St. The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with a discussion with faith and community leaders, and will be followed at 11 a.m. with a roundtable discussion with leaders of African-American cultural, arts and historical organizations. At 12:30 p.m., representatives from the Colorado Black Roundtable, DPS and several community organizations will discuss information and updates on school choice, the Center for Family Opportunity, the need for African-American history in our schools, strategies for navigating the educational pipeline, and resources to support African American students and their families. All are welcome to attend any or all of the conversations, and there is no charge to attend.
