Educator-led Return to School Workgroup

DPS formed an educator-led workgroup to provide a scheduling option for a mix of in-person and remote learning, should health conditions shift.

About the Workgroup

The members of the workgroup represented a wide range of perspectives across school types (district-run, charter, innovation zones), grade levels, and regions. They were selected because of their ability to think critically about this challenge across the DPS system and family of schools, beyond their specific school’s context. They brought expertise with specialized programs, like special education or Transitional Native Language Instruction (TNLI), nursing and psychology. DPS leaders also worked closely with Tiffany Choi, the president of the DCTA, to ensure key teacher voices were represented.

Alternative Scheduling Option in Case of Changing Health Conditions

The scheduling options created for a mix of in-person and remote learning were shared with the broader DPS community, who weighed in on their preferences in our second survey, launched on June 1.

Feedback from that survey showed that, of the three options, the majority of families and staff would prefer Option 1, an AA/BB schedule. This was consistent across racial and ethnic groups, as well as the education level of the students served. View the results of this survey here

Our educator-led Workgroup emphasized the need for a strong equity focus on providing additional in-person learning for students who need it most. That additional support for priority students is a demonstration of our commitment to being an equity-led school district. Schools would begin prioritizing additional in-person learning for our students with disabilities and our students who are in the early stages of learning English. Schools then would work to prioritize as many additional student groups as possible for the extra day of in-person learning, including students who are not on track to graduate, students from historically underserved populations, and students from low-income households.

In the event that health conditions change, and guidance requires us to move to a hybrid schedule, DPS would proceed with Option 1.

Option 1: 2-Day Block (AA/BB) Schedule for In-Person Learning.
Students will have remote learning the remainder of the week.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Additional In-Person Learning for Priority Students Group A Group A Group B Group B

In determining the “A” and “B” student groups for each scenario, siblings would be prioritized so that they can be attending in-person learning on the same schedule. All students would have access to in-person learning at least 40% of the time. Each “A” and “B” group generally would include about half of the school’s total enrollment, which will allow for the required social distancing.

Nhóm công tác Quay lại Trường học do Nhà giáo dẫn dắt

Kooxda Shaqada ee ay Hogaanka u hayaan Macalimiintu

DPS waxay abuurtay koox ay hogaanka u hayaan macalimiintu si ay u baxshaan dookha jadwalaynta ee isku darka waxbarashada tooska ah iyo mida oonleenka ah, haddii xaaladaha caafimaadku isbadalaan.

Xogta Kooxda Shaqada

Xubnaha gudigga ayaa matalaaya noocyo aad u badan dugsiyada oo dhan ah (kuwa degmadu maamusho, kuwa charter ka, dugsiyada tababarka), heerarka fasalka, iyo gobalada. Waxay sidoo kale khibrad u leeyihiin barnaamijyada gaarka ah, sida waxbarashada gaarka ah ama Casharada Ku meel Gaarka ah ee Luuqada Hooyo (TNLI), kalkaalinta iyo cilmi nafsiga. Hogaamiyaasha DPS waxay sidoo kale si dhaw ula shaqeeyeen Tiffany Choi, gudoomiyaha DCTA, si loo xaqiijiyo in codadka muhiimka ah ee macalimiinta lagusoo daro qorshaha.

Dookha Jadwalka Gaarka ah Haddii Xaaladaha Caafimaadku Isbadalaan

Dookha jadwalku wuxuu abuurayaa iskudarka waxbarashada tooska ah iyo tan oonleenka ah ee lala wadaagaayo bulsho waynta DPS, kuwaasoo cadaynaayay dookhyadooda markay ka jawaabayaan xog aruurinteena labaad, oo la qabtay Juun 1.

Jawaabta lagu baxshay xog aruurintii ugu danbaysay ayaa muujisay in, marka laga eego sadexda dookh, inta badan qoysaska iyo shaqaaluhu doorteen dookha 1, jadwalka AA/BB. Dookhaan ayay ka sinaayeen dhammaan kooxaha isirka iyo qoomiyaduhu, iyo sidoo kale heerka waxbarashada ardayda adeegga la siinaayo. Ka fiiri natiijooyinka xog aruurintaan halkaan.

Taageeradaan dheeriga ah ee loo samaynaayo ardayda baahiyaha gaarka ah waa astaanta dadaalkeena ku aadan inaan noqon dugsi degmadu maamusho oo loo siman yahay. Dugsiyadu waxay bilaabi doonaan inay muhiimada siiyaan waxbarashada tooska ah ee ardayda naafada ah iyo ardaydeena ku jira heerarka hore ee barashada Ingiriiska. Dugsiyada ayaa intaas kadib ka shaqayn doona muhiimad siinta ardayda ugu badan ee dheeraadka ah oon awoodno waxbarashada tooska ah ee dheeriga ah ee maalintii, ayna ku jiraan ardayda aan u diyaarsanayn qalin jabinta, ardayda kasoo jeedaa bulshooyinka xaqooda la duudsiyo, iyo ardayda kasoo jeeda qoysasa danyarta ah.

Markay isbadalaan xaaladaha caafimaadku, tilmaantuna naga doonayso inaan u guurno jadwalka caadiga ah, DPS waxay u guuri doontaa Dookha 1.

Lundi Mardi Mercredi Jeudi Vendredi
