6:30 – 8 p.m.
This meeting will be held in Spanish, with English interpretations available.
All Denver Public School community members are invited to attend an upcoming Budget Community Meeting to learn more about the district’s budget challenges, consider the long-term budget picture, pose questions, and discuss concerns. Covid-19 has dramatically changed our budget, and we face a shortfall of nearly $65 million for the 2020-21 school year and an ongoing gap of over $60 million annually in future years.
We are working hard to reduce our costs in a way that puts equity first and ensures all our students are academically successful. Our budget proposal focuses on equity, so we can maintain a high level of service to our students and families when they need it most, streamlines central support, and protects school budgets while we build a long-term solution for ongoing savings while working to protect our staffing levels in order to provide strong service to the community.
To view details of the budget proposal shared during the June 15 board meeting, visit our BoardDocs site and budget website.
We want to recognize the short notice for these meetings; however, we want to hear from you before the Denver Board of Education votes on the budget on June 29.
