On Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, William (Bill) Roberts Elementary School educators, students and families celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the campus at its Tin for Ten event.
This decade celebration featured keynotes from Denver Public Schools (DPS) and community special guests, including board member Rachele Espiritu, Superintendent Tom Boasberg and Bill Roberts principal Trich Lea.
“We are proud of the growth and accomplishments that our students, teachers and community have made over our 10 years,” said Lea.
The Stapleton community joined Bill Roberts School families and staff by donating canned food items for families in need as a part of the Tin for Ten celebration. The amount of donations received surpassed the expectations within the first day of the food drive. Bill Roberts students and educators took the donations and created a tin can that towered over 10-feet tall.
Toys for children in need this holiday season were also donated by the school community. Students and volunteers helped wrap these gifts and wrote personalized letters for the recipients.
“We want to make sure every kid gets a gift this Christmas,” said a student at the event.
