Addressing Concerns About Alleged ICE Activity

We received some concerns from individuals who had heard that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were posing as DPS teachers and asking families for information. We spoke with these individuals and do not have any information at this time to suggest that this rumor is true.

Please know that Denver Public Schools does not conduct unannounced visits to our families’ homes asking for any contact information or any personal information of any kind. DPS will never ask for immigration status information. Additionally, please understand that the school district will do everything in its lawful power to protect students’ confidential information.

Algunas personas nos han comunicado que han escuchado que algunos funcionarios del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas de los Estados Unidos (ICE, por su sigla en inglés) se estaban haciendo pasar por maestros de DPS y estaban pidiendo información a las familias.  Hablamos con dichas personas, y por el momento, no tenemos ninguna información que sugiera que este rumor sea cierto.

Queremos que sepan que las Escuelas Públicas de Denver no visitan los hogares de nuestras familias sin previo aviso para pedir información de contacto o personal de ningún tipo. DPS nunca solicitará información relacionada con el estatus inmigratorio. Adicionalmente, queremos que sepan que el Distrito escolar hará todo lo que esté a su alcance a nivel legal para proteger la información confidencial de nuestros estudiantes.
