Celebrating Notable Women of Denver and DPS

Escalante-Biggs Academy

Escalante-Biggs Academy honored Women's Day on March 8th by wearing purple, which signifies justice and dignity, and green, which signifies hope.

McAuliffe International Middle School

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Michelle Moore, Community Liaison at McAuliffe International School, created a “HERstory” presentation to honor the stories and the impact of nine local women. From a Boys and Girls Club Director to a Denver Sheriff Department Sergeant to several members of McAuliffe’s staff, Moore shines a light on just a few of the incredible women who are making a daily impact on the Denver community.

Denver Language Schools

This year for Women’s History Month DLS organized some incredible virtual and in-person activities! Throughout the month they posted Community Spotlights, reading videos, and photos from both campuses!

4th Grade Art

“For Women’s HERstory Month at DLS, our phenomenal Fourth grade students in the Spanish program at Denver Language School completed a project celebrating women’s achievements in history. Students selected a woman that they identified as being a leader, role model, and has contributed positively to our world. Our 4th graders honored women in the fields of musicians, scientists, engineers, authors, politicians, math, science, and more to show that women have
helped create the amazing world we live in today.”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early College

“To start the fourth quarter and help students continue to build relationships, I assigned the students the ‘Women in Art’ assignment .  This assignment required students to make and share artwork about women that they felt were important.  I told students that they could use any medium to make the artwork and that they need to upload and image to our shared slides and explain why they chose the women they did.”
