Lewis
Palmer Concert Classic
All band majors will travel to Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument
on November 9th. The Wind Ensemble will perform at the Concert Classic
which is an adjudicated event - the first of the year. Concert Band
will go as observers. This is always a great event as only those
bands who make it to the previous year's State Concert Band Festival
are invited. We will leave via coach busses at 6:45 am in order
to be there for a 7:45 am warm up. This means all band students
must be at school no later than 6:15 am.
Band
Parent Meets
Parent/student meets are planned for Tuesdays October 2nd and 16th
at 5:30 pm in the band room. The department needs parental help,
guidance and support as we try to offer the best band program possible.
On October 2nd Mr. Hammond will unveil a trip idea for Wind Ensemble/Jazz
Bands as well as talk about fund raising, upcoming concert support
and ask for other performance/support ideas from parents. Students
are always welcome to these meetings!
Wind
Ensemble to do Dance Concerts
The Wind Ensemble will perform at the Dance concerts scheduled
for October 18, 19 and 20th at 7 pm in the Black Box of
the school.
Both
departments will collaborate on a piece dedicated to those
who lost their lives in the tragedy on September 11th.

Directories Available
Thanks goes out to Shelly Baker who has compiled phone number and
address information for each of the band majors - Concert Band and
Wind Ensemble. These directories are useful if we need to contact
students and/or parents with last minute details. These lists are
only available to band parents, so if you would like one you can
pick one up at the bi-month meet or through Mr. Hammond.

Department
Fee Due
The Bands Department at DSA goes through 2 to 3 times the amount
of music a regular DPS high school department does. Because of this
the DSA Instrumental Music Department asks for an annual $85.00
department contribution which helps us pay for music, buses, event
entrance fees, and theory materials. We need music stands (ask you
son or daughter how much!) and will be purchasing these from this
budget.
