For Immediate Release

KINDERGARTEN AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION ROUNDUP IS APRIL 12 - 16

Parents and children will have a chance to meet with school staffs and observe classes during Kindergarten and Early Child Education Roundup, being held April 12-16 in Denver Public Schools.

The roundup also allows parents to enroll children for the 1999-2000 school year and to sign up for Early Childhood Education screening.

To enroll in kindergarten, a child must be five years old by September 15, 1999. Parents should bring several documents to registration, including a birth certificate and immunization record. If a child's parents are divorced, proof of custody is necessary. Proof of legal guardianship must be provided when children reside with someone other than a parent. Proof of residency, such as a driver's license or a current bill, must also be shown.

During the roundup, the school district is also taking names of children to screen for the 1999-2000 Early Childhood Education program. A child must be four years old by September 15 to qualify.

Each school offers its own Early Childhood Education and Kindergarten Roundup schedule of special events. Please call individual schools for information on their roundup activities or to schedule a visit.
