December 1, 1998 For Immediate Release MONTBELLO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL HOST MAXWELL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS THURSDAY FOR STORY TIME Carrying their favorite book and a comfortable pillow to relax on, more than 100 students from Maxwell Elementary will walk to Montbello High School Thursday (December 3rd) to hear some stories. "The purpose of this is to encourage literacy and for high school students to model literacy," said Montbello Assistant Principal Janet Johnson. "It also gives a chance for the high school students to give something back to the community." Johnson said 116 Maxwell students have signed up for this read-in. All the young children are in first-grade, kindergarten, and early childhood education. Additional sessions will be scheduled later in the school year. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. and run for about an hour. The young students will meet the high school students in the Montbello library. Montbello High School is located at 5000 Crown Boulevard. Jessie Maxwell Elementary School shares the same campus; its street address is 14390 E. Bolling Drive. For more information, please call Janet Johnson at 303-375-5745. |
