Cheltenham Elementary Meets 100% Parent/Teacher Conference Goal

Cheltenham Elementary had set the goal of 100% as part of its Parent and Community Engagement portion of our School Improvement Plan. In the Fall of 2006, the school had 82% participation in parent/teacher conferences so in order to see meaningful results in student achievement, parent involvement needed to improve.

"We are extremely proud of reaching our goal of 100%. At Cheltenham we are trying to create an environment where ALL means ALL," said Claudia Salvestrin, Cheltenham Elementary principal.

It was an all school effort to meet the goal. Teachers stayed well beyond traditional hours to meet parents' needs. Teachers and administrators covered classes in order to have conferences during school hours and our staff members made home visits in situations when family members could not come to the school.
