Honored Bromwell Student Shares Cash Award With His School

Bryce Viorst, a third-grade student at Bromwell Elementary School, decided to share a cash prize and his recognition with his school this week.

Bryce Viorst was the winner of a competition sponsored by the Rose Community Foundation in October 2006. He won first place for his design of a Rosh Hashanah card and was given the opportunity to designate funds to a nonprofit organization of his choice. Viorst requested that $500 be sent to Bromwell Elementary School's Gifted and Talented Program and to the school's PTSA.

"We are not only very proud of Bryce's honor through the Rose Community Foundation, but we are extremely honored that our student chose to share that award with us," said Principal Jonathan Wolfer. "Bryce is a talented young man with a great future ahead of him and I am very pleased to accept this gift - a gift he could have made to many community agencies, but he chose his own school."

Bromwell's PTSA supports the school in various ways, the largest being a yearly grant which provides paraprofessional support in classrooms and expanded library, art, physical education, and music opportunities for the over 300 students at Bromwell.
