Three DPS Scholar-Athletes Honored By John Lynch Foundation

Three Denver Public School students were among the several Colorado middle and high school students honored by the John Lynch Foundation at a gala luncheon attended by 800 people at Invesco Field on May 15th. Students from across Colorado were recognized for their athletic participation, community service, and academic excellence. Spencer Borison from Morey Middle School was awarded the Middle School Male Star of the Year. Brenna Sala from South High School received the Disabled Athlete Star of the Year. Heather McCaffrey from George Washington High School received a $5000 renewable scholarship as a part of the Lynch Family Legacy Scholarship Program. Joining John and his wife, Linda, were Denver Broncos, Nick Ferguson, Domonique Foxworth, and Jay Cutler.

"This is an effort to reward the young leaders of our community who are doing the right things, because so often the focus is on kids doing things wrong," emphasized Lynch.

The John Lynch Foundation is committed to developing quality young leaders by providing programs that assist and motivate, recognizing achievement and excellence, and encouraging dreams. The Lynches strongly believe that values can be learned through sport participation and community involvement. Teamwork, time management, responsibility, involvement and determination are the lessons that carry over into all areas of life.
