HEAC Announces Winners Of 4th Annual Award Program
The Hispanic Education Advisory Council (HEAC) serves as a liaison between Denver's Hispanic community and the Denver Public Schools (DPS), communicating to the Board of Education and the superintendent, the educational concerns of that community and emphasizing the paramount need to improve the academic achievement of Hispanic students throughout DPS. HEAC is comprised of DPS educators, parents and community members.
This awards program recognizes the achievements of students, educators, and parents in elementary, middle and high school.
HEAC asked for nominations of students who have made a significant change academically and have displayed outstanding leadership characteristics; educators who have demonstrated commitment above and beyond their duties to ensure Hispanic students' success, and parents who volunteer, spend extra time in schools, and are positive role models not only for their own children but others as well.
The DPS community responded by nominating over 100 talented individuals who have contributed to the improvement of the education of Hispanic students in Denver Public Schools, and we will celebrate and honor their dedication.
The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Tivoli Turnhalle at 900 Auraria Parkway. The public is welcome to come and share in celebrating the tremendous work of all of these individuals. RSVP to 303-455-1413.
