On April 14, 130 Teams Participated In The Denver Destination Imagination Tournament
On April 14, 130 teams participated in the Denver Destination ImagiNation tournament at George Washington High School. Teams that placed first, second or third earned the right to represent the Denver Region at the Colorado Destination ImagiNation tournament scheduled for this Saturday, April 28. 280 teams from across the state will compete at the state tournament, vying for the right to represent Colorado at Destination ImagiNation Global Finals at the University of Tennessee the end of May. The Colorado tournament will run from 7:15 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Sturm Hall, Magness Arena, Newman Center, and Ricks Center on the University of Denver campus.
The teams and their schools are:
DIrect Flight, in which teams created and build aircraft that flew into designated areas.
Elementary Level
- 1st Place - The History Flyers, The Odyssey School
- 2nd Place - S3H2IO, Steel School
- 3rd Place - Flying Mustangs, Colorado Academy
Middle Level
- 1st Place - Kepner Flyers, Kepner Middle School
CSI: DI, in which teams used color, a colorful character and a shadowy character to investigate and solve a case.
Elementary Level
- 1st Place - Jack + 3girls = Help Me2, Centennial K-8
- 2nd Place - The LaVinci Code, Bromwell Elementary
- 3rd Place - SOS (Spunky Optimistic Spies), Most Precious Blood School
- 1st Place - Scary Scarabs, Steck Elementary
- 2nd Place - The Pretty Girls and the Ugly Duck, Polaris at Ebert
- 3rd Place (tie) - Those Kids, Colorado Academy
- 3rd Place (tie) - Hot Shots, Bromwell Elementary
Middle Level
- 1st Place - Freaks, Geeks, and Something in Between; Denver School of the Arts
- 2nd Place - Red Hots, Denver School of the Arts
- 3rd Place - AVID CSI, Kepner Middle School
Round About Courage, in which the teams presented a story in theater-in-the-round about a heroic character.
Elementary Level
- 1st Place - The Devine Inventors, Grant Ranch School
- 2nd Place - Magic Fairmont 5, El "DIA" de Fairmont
- 3rd Place - The History Chicks, The Odyssey School
Middle Level
- 1st Place - Bust-A-Move, Denver School of The Arts
- 2nd Place - Mystical Riders of the Morey Mustang, Morey Middle School
Switching TraDItions, in which team members, at the tournament, created an improvisational performance about traditions in countries other than the United States.
Elementary Level
- 1st Place - 5th Grade Germs, Steck Elementary
- 2nd Place - Off the Top of our Head Girls, Palmer Elementary
- 3rd Place - Page Me, Southmoor Elementary
Middle Level

Card-DI-ology, in which team members test the weight-bearing ability of structures build out of playing cards
