Healthy Us, Healthy Earth At Cory Elementary On Monday, April 23

On Monday, April 23, the Cory Elementary School community will focus on a day long study of healthy bodies and a healthy planet. During the day students will have a variety of experiences including 9 News Health Fair stations manned by 5th graders, DPS food service speakers, yoga teachers, Banyan tree drumming, the Better Breath Bus and much more. At 11:30, Pete Zoschg, an arborist with Denver's Parks and Recreations department, will plant a London Plane tree on the school's Florida street side.

In the evening, Kirk Johnson from the Museum of Nature and Science will lead a conversation for families on the environment. Greenprint Denver will also be in attendance to distribute trees to some of the Cory families as part of the city of Denver's 7000 trees in 7 days campaign. Cory wants its community to learn that it is easy being green.

Students had a poster contest with the entries of the three winners displayed throughout the school the past two weeks. All activities will take place at the school located at Steele and Florida Street, Denver. For additional information, please contact principal Julia Shepherd at 303-744-2726.
