Walk & Roll Wednesdays & Walk 'N Park Wednesdays At Southmoor Elementary

The Denver Public Schools Risk Management Department and the Denver Osteopathic Foundation are partnering to promote safe walking and bicycling to school at Southmoor Elementary on April 25, May 2 and May 9th as a part of the Safe Routes To School Program, funded by a grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

On three consecutive Wednesdays, students will be encouraged to walk or bike to school if they live within one mile of the school. Those students who live further than one mile of the school can participate in Walk 'N Park Wednesdays - meet at Southmoor Park at 8:15 a.m. and walk to school. There will be a "Walking School Bus" to school from Southmoor Park to ensure children's safe passage. Parents are encouraged to walk their child to school.

Prizes will be given to the students who take advantage of the warm Colorado weather and get out and stretch their legs. PTA representatives from the school, teachers and Principal Burger will be outside those Wednesdays to welcome the students to school and hand out small gifts.
